Relevant network and experience in National and European projects
The wind energy research group consists of 3 academics and 4 PhD research students and the research has been supported by the UK Research Council, regional development agency and industries. Recent focus of the group has been in the aerodynamics design and analysis of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) and wind resources for urban environments using CFD and supported with experimental investigation using advanced laser diagnostic techniques. We have good experience working with SME on novel wind turbine development and have excellent modelling experience of extremely complex flow phenomena around the wind turbine operating in urban environments.
