The Spanish demonstrator is finished and ready to start validating the SWIP solutions

This week the construction of the Spanish demonstrator has been completed, with the installation yesterday of the nacelle and the blades. On the previous weeks, the works were focused on the foundations and the mast.

The pilot installed is located in Zaragoza (Spain), at the backside of CIRCE building, rising a few meters above the roof to avoid disturbances in the wind flow.

The project partners CIRCE and SOLUTE have been in charge of this task, which has been accomplished according to the project plan. In the design of the prototype have also taken part several others SWIP partners, such as Poliplastas (production of the blades), Meteodyn (blades analysis) or the University of Dublin (windspeed limit).

The prototype is a 4kW horizontal axis wind turbine. It is 15,5m tall, and is composed of three blades 3m long each and a tail of more than 2m long.

In the upcoming weeks the project partner CIRCE will start the monitoring phase, carrying out the power performance test, which will enable the validation of the different solutions developed by SWIP.
